Great example of the process

Excellent read that discusses the process a leader goes through prior to committing blood and treasure to strategic aims.
IT is a deep read that looks into the thought process of a leader. Not a book for the historically shallow desiring blood guts of warfare. This read is truly a brain matter digest of the mental methods that Admiral Woodward went thru prior to operations in the Falklands!
Great read that gets deep into the complexity of problem solving.

A rare, no BS account of an extremely interesting and important military campaign.

I'm a retired air force officer and I've read a lot of these kind of books. This is the best military memoir I've ever read. What makes it exceptional is Admiral Woodward's readiness to admit his sometimes less than kind treatment of subordinates in the heat of battle. They became pawns on a chessboard to him and he readily admits it. His goal was to minimize his losses and if he had to place certain ships in extreme danger to achieve that goal, he did. Admiral Woodward states in the preface that after reading the book you may think less of him. I did not, but a friend I lent the book to did. Bottom line, its a rare, no BS account of an extremely interesting and important military campaign. Great book.

The Big Picture

This book only describes the sea/air battles leading up to the landing on the Falklands. I thought Woodward spent too much time justifying his every decision. It was interesting the first few time he did this but then it became a diversion and kept me from visualizing the big picture. Also maps would have been useful to keep track of where the ships and planes were located at the start of each engagement.

ANother excellent, practical book on Lean Product Development

Inhave read several of Ron Mascitelli's earlier books and I have attended 2 of his training seminars at the AME conferences. I find his books and his approach to be practical, readable, and yet firmly grounded in lean thinking. There are a number of books that try to apply the methods of lean manufacturing to lean NPD. I am sure there is some benefit from this, but the real change required to bring lean thinking into NPD requires substantial change. This book addresses these issues admirably. I recommend it very much.

A comprehensive approach to Lean Product Development

"I just finished reading Ron's new book over the weekend, and I must say that I am impressed. Having read and benefited from Ron's previous books, I had high expectations and I wasn't disappointed. The writing style and practical approach were refreshing, and the content goes well beyond his previous works. I particularly liked the 'event-driven' approach that integrates many of the lean product development tools that I've been using into a scalable front-to-back process. I plan to use his 'market requirements event' within the next few weeks on a new platform project, to help capture voice-of-the-customer data into a set of requirements that our developers can actually understand. I highly recommend this new book to both experienced lean practitioners and to those who are just discovering the benefits of applying lean thinking to the new product development process."

What the heck?

I'm on chapter 10 in this book and taking a test. Index a word, page 260. Cannot find page 260.. Book goes from page 256 to 321 to 352 to 289 then continues normally. How can you sell a book like this? Horrible!

There were almost no highlighting's in the book, nothing too ripped or anything too big of a deal. The only thing I didn't like was that the CD was not included. I had already figured that, so it not being in there wasn't a big deal to me. This was totally a steal for the price and it's a really good book! I would deff recommend!

I'm always on the lookout for fun, Bible-themed story books and activities that my children can both be entertained by and learn from at the same time. Zonderkidz has filled that need with a great book that your children are sure to love, because mine sure did!

The Super-Duper Mighty Jumbo Coloring book is an amazing book that is aptly named, containing almost 400 pictures for children to color! My children truly love this coloring book, not only because there are so many options to choose from, but because the book is divided into all of the main stories of the Bible. The book does not contain words from the Bible, but tells Bible stories through the pictures, allowing children to learn the stories while letting them add colors and their own creativity to the stories. My children's favorite was coloring the story of Jonah as he fled from God and was swallowed by a giant fish. My son just giggles over the picture of the fish throwing up Jonah onto shore! The coloring book will not only entertain your children with hours of coloring, but also help you impart Bible stories at the same time.

This coloring book had awesome coloring pages and it also covered most all of the bible stories and the regular stories as well, this coloring book is great and it was a jumbo book for real. I would recommend this product.

Anthony Back, MD, is Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. He is also Director of the Program in Cancer Communication at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington.

Robert Arnold, MD, is Leo H. Criep Professor and Director of the Institute for Doctor-Patient Communication at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is currently President of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Fantastic resource for EVERY clinician

I have been a palliative care physician for 5 years now, and I was amazed at how much this book taught me. I appreciate its straightforward language and found that I was learning new communication techniques from the very first page (yes, really!). I think this book is a great resource for any clinician regardless of their level of expertise, experience, or training. From the novice to the expert - from medical student to attending physician - and for every discipline - this book should be required reading for anyone who deals with patients with serious illness and their families.

I was fortunate enough to attend a communication skills training retreat with the authors and it changed the way I practice medicine. I was moved to write this review because the book so effectively distills their years of experience as clinicians and educators into a readable and practical format. It serves as an ideal refresher and reference for those who have taken part in their workshops. More importantly, though, the text is accessible enough that it could be used by anyone of any discipline who deals with seriously ill patients, even if you never thought of communication skills as something that could be taught! Written in the style of "Difficult Conversations" and "Getting to Yes" the authors have structured the book to make it a quick, high yield read. They use tables to highlight "what happened" in a conversation and "what we can learn" then end each section with "the bottom line" and a few tips to help you in "maximizing your learning." This material made me a much better communicator which has not only helped my patients but has also made my practice infinitely more fulfilling. This book offers the same opportunity to anyone who reads it which I find very exciting for the future of medicine. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

What all Physicians should read during training . . . and after.

Communicating serious news and dealing with end-of-life issues are poorly taught in medical school, but something that is constantly present in practice. This book is a quick read, but a great resource in how to have those discussions go well. As we are constantly dealing with death, we easily forget how new, personal and foreign a serious situation is to the individual patient we see. This book walks through discussions about breaking serious news, giving a prognosis, to discussing code status while being mindful of where the patient is at. I can't advocate this enough as needing to be a book in every doctor's library.

Spelling Errors and Bad Pictures

I love the Wills Eye books and was really looking forward to a pediatric-specific edition, but I'm disappointed with this one. I've only skimmed the book so far and have already found multiple spelling errors and a mislabeled picture. More importantly, the pictures just aren't that great for a "color atlas." Granted, it's challenging to get a good photo on a kid, but some are old, some are too dark, and many are not the typical Wills Eye quality. Also, some of the pages dedicated to pictures have more blank space than actual content, which I don't understand.

I hate to say it, but I would wait for the next edition.
