The most succinct, definitive guide I've found for every aspect of quantitative usability testing!

As a practitioner in the usability field, I have come to depend on this guide for my usability testing. It tackles some long held best practices (i.e. - Do I only need to test with 5 users?) and arms you with the information necessary to make an educated decision about whether 5 users is enough based on what your trying to accomplish with the test.

It succinctly answers probably EVERY question I've ever had about performing quantitative usability tests, and answers some I didn't know I should be considering. I can quickly find the answer I'm looking for (because it's organized by "questions") and not lose valuable time during a project.

After having this booklet a while, I became (in full disclosure) big fan of the authors website devoted to "measuring usability" and look forward to his weekly blogs. ([...])

I can't emphasize enough how crucial this guide has been for me and the teams I've worked with. I bought several copies and gave them out to others on our Usability Testing team so we could use it as our "Playbook".

The Missing Manual to IBD & "How to Make Money in Stocks"

Finally for all those investors and traders trying to implement the CAN SLIM investment methodology by using William O'Neil's book "How to Make Money in Stocks" along with Investor's Business Daily, here is your users manual. Matthew Galgani has done an excellent job with this book by both keeping it simple and easy to read but also getting all the vital elements needed to bring all of O'Neil's teachings together as a cohesive whole for implementation in a real strategy.

This is the very first kindle version of a book I have bought and read and I found all the links that were available inside the book that went to the investors web site very useful for video lessons to expand on the authors points with out making the book excessively long by trying to incorporate everything in writing.

The kindle edition of the book is filled with pop out historical charts of the biggest winning stock charts in history along with recent ones that I had actually traded in the past few years. The charts are very valuable to actually understand visually what the big winners look like to avoid thinking they are "too high priced" as they play out in real time.

The lessons of this book are many, here are a few:

The keys to winning in the stock market is to only buy stocks during market up trends, focus on the companies with the biggest earnings growth, and buy stocks being accumulated by institutional investors.

How to use the IBD market pulse to determine the markets current trend. (I really liked the strategy that the author suggested for trading an index using their market model. He showed how their simple market trend model would have saved buy and holders from the vast majority of the 2008 plunge and got them back in after the 2009 reversal).

The book shows how to find the best performing monster stocks by using the tools on the IBD investors website and by using the IBD paper.

The author shows the key high probability times to buy the right stocks as they come out of the best patterns: double bottoms, cups with handles, bases, etc. Also how to create your own watch list and be ready to buy these stocks by setting buy stops.

The book covers the vital point of risk control and to cut all losses at 7%, 8% or less when the stock fails to trend after a buy point. Also it gives a graph on how many stocks an investor should own based on the size of their capital. The suggestions are for a very concentrated portfolio, which I agree with but it is crucial to split up your stock positions into as many parts as they suggest. I would advise if they say you should own 5 stocks for you size of capital then only use 20% of your capital on any one stock.

Let winners run up to 20% to 25% profits before selling or farther if they just rocket.

I am glad that Matthew explained that one of the primary keys that make the CAN SLIM method a winning model is the 3/1 risk reward ratio by having
20%/25% gains and only 7%/8% losses. You can win once and lose twice and still make money.

If you have been a student of the book "How to Make Money in Stocks", the Investors Business Daily Newspaper,and the Investors website they run, this should be the book that brings it all together for you.

Just a great informative, easy to digest, actionable plan for successful growth investing.

Looks Great on Kindle, like an e-workbook

I decided to get the kindle edition so I can search it and make notes. Sometimes the kindle formatting is poor but not this one. There are hyperlinks everywhere, action item boxes that pop off the page, charts galore, you get the idea.

It reminds me of a workbook that accompanies a textbook (HTMMIS, quite a bit harder to read) from my school days.
It shows you how to use stock checkup and many other features on the investors.com website.

Some new points that caught my eye include an analysis of the Facebook IPO fiasco, and an ETF strategy using market pulse where you sell half on mkt pressure, and the rest on mkt correction.

Definitely a must read for IBD investors and might be the best place to start.

Excellent step-by-step explanation of IBD's investing system

I'm an IBD meetup organizer (I am not affiliated with IBD in any way and do not work for them). I have been successfully following the CAN SLIM system for many years. Not only have I been successful with my buys, more importantly, by following the IBD system, I have been out of the market at the right times. IBD got me out of the market before the 2008 recession so that I did not lose any money (unlike all of my friends who were having their money professionally managed).

I wish I had had this book when I first started. O'Neil's book is fantastic and the "Bible", but Galgani's book is a perfect "prequel" to O'Neil's book. I love his style - how he walks you through things step by step. It is so clear and easy to understand.

I teach this stuff at my meetup every month and will be loving having this book to use to help me prepare my lessons. I will also be recommending all of my new investors to buy this book!

In this ambitious book, Olson delineates from an evangelical perspective what is and is not authentic Christian belief. Chapters feature such topics as the Bible, God, Jesus and the Church, beginning with an overview of orthodox belief about the topic, citing Scripture, the Church Fathers and noted Christian writers throughout history. Olson then devotes a section to heretical beliefs, and follows this with an examination of diverse non-heretical beliefs among orthodox Christians (including Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox believers, and most Protestants). He ends each chapter envisioning greater unity among Christians, despite honest disagreements. While marred by some redundancy and excess verbiage, Olson's writing renders many complex theological concepts surprisingly accessible. And in his attempts to separate heresy from right belief, he acknowledges that those who adhere to beliefs he labels erroneous are usually sincere Christians (he cites wrong belief among fundamentalists, charismatics, liberal Christians and various sects). Attempting to mediate among the myriad dogmas, doctrines and opinions of orthodox Christians is no easy task, and Olson's descriptions of certain right beliefs and heresies (such as the psychological analogy for the Trinity and modalism) are sometimes barely distinguishable. Despite these and other small logical problems, Olson's book contributes greatly to contemporary evangelicalism not only in its impressive survey of many theologies, but also in its use of "The Great Tradition" of Christian belief as an essential guide to orthodoxy.

In this exemplary treatment of historical Christian theology and the development of belief, Olson (theology, Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor Univ.) succeeds in presenting what he posits as a "very basic, relatively comprehensive, nontechnical, nonspeculative one-volume introduction" to the subject. Olson works best at "affirming a strong central core of identifiable Christian belief," concluding that "beliefs matter, but not all beliefs matter equally." An evangelical Christian who is well versed in the variety of Christian beliefs-from Orthodoxy to Roman Catholicism to Protestantism and others that fall under the heading of "esoteric Christianity"-he compares and contrasts various traditions in brief and simple language, illuminating complex doctrinal debates such as the Trinity, the nature of God, salvation, and humanity. He employs an informed rhetoric, showcasing a Christianity "that allows for great diversity and variety about every detail." While not heavily into scholarly apparatus, he footnotes and cites where necessary. Teachers who want to cover a broad spectrum of Christian beliefs should seriously consider this as a textbook for their courses. Its reasonable price and thoughtful, comprehensive perspective make it a compelling purchase. Highly recommended for academic and larger public libraries.

This book is well written and is easy for the experienced oral implantologist to understand. The authors wen the extra mile to compose a well illustrated text with excellent photography. In particular the histophotography is outstanding. The authors are convincing. I have curiously observed the progress of immediate loading and have studied this concept for several years.

I can strongly recommend this book for the oral implantologist that desires to add immediate loading to the treatment options in their practice!

There are some things about finances that are basic and an ‘absolute.’ You will find many of those in this book. There are financial realities that are thought of as ‘out of date, but that can actually be transposed into the future. You will also find those in this book. Some will make you a laugh, as in, “Did they really have to do all that?”

In these days of internet transactions, computers & i-Pads, on-line banking & buying, anyway you look at it, for the right price, this book is a treasure...

An oldie that's still a goodie

Common sense answers to those starting out on a budget. Some of the information is dated but the basics of budgeting remain the same. I had a copy of this book back in the 1970s when I was newly married and it disappeared during one of our moves. I was happy to find it on Amazon for less than $4, which included shipping. There's an updated book for the 1980s which has the same basics if you can't find this one. Either one is a good starter book. While it was written before online banking was commonplace (if at all for most of us), the basics of balancing a checkbook, keeping control of credit, etc., are useful. For those who don't know about balance sheets or using a calculator or what a printed bank statement looks like, you may find it amusing but you will probably learn something, too. Also, you may be able to find it in your local library. It's worth reading, IMHO.

I had to say something

Being dumped by the love of my life placed me at a near suicidal place, in a dank grey town in mid-winter. This is a very serious topic and should not be exploited. I looked at every book out there including some mentioned in other reviews of this book. I don't write reviews. I've never done this, but this subject is far too serious, and I sense that some authors are trying to "minimize" certain works just so they can sell their books. And they don't even identify themselves. Hmmm.THIS BOOK HELPED ME IN WAYS YOU CANNOT IMAGINE, so much so that I wrote to the authors and THEY WROTE ME BACK A PERSONAL AND SUPPORTIVE NOTE. If you're reading this and trying to figure out which book to buy for this very serious time in your life, this is an honest unpretentious book that will help you, and this topic is far too serious to play games with your own life. You'll be okay. I promise, and this book will help you. I promise.

Great Book

This book has truly become an important part in helping me in my life.

I read this book and marked it up a whole bunch and have been going back a lot, looking at specific chapters as they pertain to me. It really has been great to read and has given me a lot of new perspectives on what I have been going through.

I am recently out a relationship in which I fell head over heels in love with a girl. We started dating and to say I was on top of the world would be an understatement. We dated for a year (talked marriage and kids) and at about that point I started getting feelings that it just was not right for me. I broke up with my girlfriend and for a long time after we went back and forth with dating each other, each time me breaking up with her.

I thought I was going to be able to move forward and move on with my life and at one point we stopped talking. About a month later she informed me she was seeing someone else and my world pretty much crashed. I was in such a bad place as I went through all those feelings of "I gave up the best thing ever," to "what is wrong with me," to "I will never love again," to "how could she be with someone else," to "why could I not love her before, this pain is unbearable," etc.

To say the last few months have been hard would be an understatement. But this book has been a big part of my life and helped me get through those sleepless nights, those unending days, and I can see now that I am now on a road to recovery. It is a process and this book has helped me see how to make it through that process.

One's first true love has been so hard to get over, especially knowing I was the one who ended it every time. I could not understand why I was saying goodbye every time to the one person I loved. All I could do was try to figure out what was wrong with me, there had to be some defect within me. Then to add to the confusion even more, after all the times I said goodbye, when I found out she was with someone else, was when I really hit rock bottom. That was when I really started to question my decisions. That is when I picked up this book and started reading.

This book takes a look at things from both sides, whether you are the one breaking up or you are the one who was broken up with. I feel like in my situation I was on both sides! I have learned so much about myself and I really have started to take a turn for the better. I have setbacks, but I have to understand that I am going to have those days and the good thing is is that those days are a lot fewer and farther between than thirty days ago.

I lost my best friend, the one person that I truly opened up to and really shared my core with. It has been hard for me knowing she is out there and close to me, yet so far away in so many respects. It has been hard having the one person that I really want to talk to about all this, not there for me. It is not everyday that we lose our best friend. It is something that I have struggled with, but I have realized it is something I have to deal with. This book shows you how to work through that.

I know I have a ways to go, but I am progessing. This book has been an amazing help to me as I have truly had the hardest time of my life. I even emailed the authors and they got back to me right away, what a great feeling!

I would recommend this book highly to those who are working on mending their heart, no matter what the situation.

Wholly Heart

This is the only book that I can wholly endorse for both men and women. For one thing, the cover isn't pink-whoever said you can't judge a book by its cover wasn't scanning shelves for breakup books. Also, it's written by two men so it doesn't have that "you go girl!" tone that one often finds in relationship books written for women (in other words, most relationship books.) The other reason I highly recommend this book to anyone is that it's the only breakup recovery book I know of that is written for any person in the throes of heartbreak, including the person who ended the relationship. Because of this, the book is very balanced and objective, with absolutely no blame-laying or victim-playing rhetoric in any of the thirty short chapters.

Overall, I found How to Heal a Broken Heart in 30 Days extremely pragmatic, organized, and well written. It's sympathetic without being touchy-feely and it's serious without being boring. Good work, Bronson and Riley! You go, guys!

On day 14, Bronson and Riley recommended a two-week checkup to "acknowledge the truth." I don't think they meant that I should go for coffee with my ex, burst into tears, and hurl accusations while nosy Starbucks patrons looked at him like he was the Antichrist-but that's pretty much what I did and, let me tell you, it didn't help much. Two weeks is too soon to schedule an exit interview because the pain is still awfully fresh. I think it's much better to wait and "acknowledge the truth" when the truth is that you no longer give a damn.

Many thanks to Outrun Press and Annemarie for putting this book together so that we the herding community can have another book of Virgil's to fall back on as go make our journey through this venue that we love so much. Well written and formatted and I have read the section on shedding so much in the few days that the pages are "marked" along with Virgil's first book it sit's on my nightstand for me to go over and over again on parts that I need reassuring on and have questions about..... again thanks to Susan for the outstanding and heartfelt introduction.
