Not only a thrilling story of "what could happen here" in the fight against terrorism, but also a history lesson of Ancient England and the Knights of the Templar beautifully woven into the plot. metaphorically and actually.The torture scenes were grisly to the point where my body actually felt some pain;; okay I'm exaggerating but not by much.

California author R.D. Byron-Smith is first a journalist, having spent 40 years reporting murder and mayhem for newspapers in four states. That coverage sets the tone for the intensity of this book - spot on observation and journalistic attention to details, but this time his story takes on a more intensive global reach. Not that journalism is his only bent: RD is an author of fifteen books, both fiction and non-fiction, both entertaining and deeply disturbing, that adopt as topics some of the more sparingly controversial aspects of what is going on in the world as we live it. His books are highly regarded and awarded for Red's imaginative use of journalism techniques (and dares) to bring authenticity to his plots or his reportage. RD understands the elements about which he writes so well that we are always clear as to where the story is going. I would have enjoyed a series

American Jihadist had a surprising twist to the Military thriller genre. I would have enjoyed a series, but it appears to have been one and done.
