An avid student of the Word of God, I have bookcases and shelves and now a iPad filled with the classics and new authors as I search for more on His Presence... This book did not speak to my intellect, it spoke to my soul. I found myself moved to tears. If you are a student of Tozer and Ravenhill, then you most certainly will want to read this.

Dag H. Hanssen works as an Assistant Professor in automation at the Institute of Engineering and Safety at the University of Tromsø. During the course of his 18 year long career with the university he has taught many different courses, but he now focusses on control technique, process automation and Application Development.

Very good guidance - Well worth the investment

I found this to be very informative and well written. I got the e-book before it was available as a kindle. I've done a significant amount of research and have been working through a significant disc herniation for many months. I've found the vast majority of the guidance in this book to be some of the most well supported and most successful techniques for herniated disc patients. The book provides good well rounded approach that addresses more than the physical aspects. I personally found the sections on 'Activities of Daily Living' , extension exercise (including exercises to avoid), core strengthening to be extremely helpful. There is a lot more as you can see by reviewing the TOC. I keep a few great summary pages bookmarked (at my fingertips) for regular review/refresh. These tables/graphs include a 'Summary of Disc Herniation Management', "Managing a Non-Surgical Lumbar Disc Herniation", "Extension Exercises" timeline and a "Sample timeline for Disc Healing." Unfortunately I have not fit the timeline well..as my journey is taking many, many months (as the author indicates can be the case for some) rather than a dozen or so weeks. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to the lack of detail on addressing bad posture. To his credit, the author does mention the importance of posture and gives some good tips for it. In my opinion, if you buy this book and the Esther Gokhale posture book, the combination is a near perfect 5 star for addressing herniated disc. P.S. I highly recommend the Esther Gokhale's book "8 steps to a pain free back" / "Back Pain: The Primal Posture Solution in book and/or DVD form (I have both) as one of the reasons for disc herniation in the first place can often be posture.. and healing without correcting is setting you up for a much higher likelihood repeat sometime down the road.

Well written, easily digested information. Really liked the emphasis on nutrition and decreasing/eliminating NSAIDs to allow the amazing immune response to work its magic. I feel like I have a plan and some power after reading this book.

A Proactive Patient Center Approach to Preservation of Back Function

I work with many people in all stages of back problems and have experienced more than a few hours of pain myself. I see a pattern to back deterioration that many do not. As a practitioner I am aware that our approach to this topic is changing, remains insufficient, and that we have the potential to do far more harm than good if we treat these problems through 'drive through' intervention models. I appreciate Dr. Morgan's conceptualization of the spinal mechanism and applaud his conservative, patient involved education approach to care. Thanks for the great tool!

A bleak tale

This is one of the darkest tales I've ever read--a sort of "Angela's Ashes" times ten. It is chilling to think that, although this is fiction, people really lived this way, in such a dark world cut off from most all human emotions, in poverty so brutal even Charles Dickens could not have imagined it. Yet in the middle of all of this blossoms Jean Le Maigre, a sort of John Keats destined to be cut down by tuberculosis in his prime. A large portion of the book is Jean Le Maigre's biography, but it is also filled with other rich characters--tough Grand-Mère, mystical Héloïse, and delightfully wicked Le Septième.
I have read this book in both its original French and Derek Coltman's translation. The translation is quite good in keeping the flavor of the original French, although at times there are words chosen in English which are stronger than they were in French.

Could it be a bad translation?

I read this book in English and was actually quite dissapointed by it. There is obviously a very moving story within the pages, but I found the writing to be disjointed and confusing in places. The characters for the most part were completely undeveloped. This novel didn't leave me with the feeling that I had just read a great book, just a somewhat interesting story. I think I will try it in French...

A dark Place

This book takes a look at the stagnant life of a Quebec family. A family who, due to the deaths of so many children, no longer care about each other. In this book, the main character, Jean, is an imaginative little boy who is dying from scarlet fever(I believe). His genius is strongly ignored by his family and, not untill he dies, do any of them realize his intelligence and worth. Jean, however, is not the whole topic of this book. It also looks at the inability to escape from this horrible situation, whereas all the characters are trapped in this stagnant world.

I have used this book in previous editions for many many years. This new edition has incorporated many of the new findings in biochemistry and genetics while retaining the best teaching art work of any oral histology text.
