Good starting point for the topic.

My instructor uses this book series in the college automotive classes he teaches. He'll be going to the next edition in September but he said even then he'd allow students to use this edition. He supplements some of the info in the book with his own info as well as info from the internet and the school library. (Today we watched the "How it's Made" episode on Tires from the Science channel because the illustrations on how tires are made are rather... vague in the extreme. Green tires, by the way, mean before it is cured/vulcanized... a point the book doesn't bother to explain) Overall it is a good foundation for the topic and a great instructor can build on it to enhance the student's knowledge level.
